Bedtime Stories (Storytelling Library: June, 2006)
It's time to rhyme with cat… well, what do you think about that?
Once upon a time there was an ugly old cat
who liked to eat a sandwich of rat.
His friend, he was a person of fat,
who lived in England in a little square flat.
He sat on a chair where the hairy rat sat
and made it squish squash until it was flat.
But it was still alive, that rat for the cat,
and it crawled outside and sat on the welcome mat.
Have fun,

Once upon a time
a little boy and his mommy went to the circus
to see the acrobats,
and eat cotton candy (which is Candyfloss in Danish),
and bounce in the bouncy house.
AND THEN
the bouncy house sprung a leak
and the boy and his mommy were eaten up by the plastic walls.
AND THEN
the manager of the bouncy house said,
"Why did you ruin this bouncy house?
I didn't buy it,
i rented it!
AND THEN
the boy said, while his mommy was crying,
"We didn't do anything. It just popped
and now we are going to sue you
so we can get our own bouncy house."
AND THEN
the manager said, "What does suing mean?

The yellow flowers don't open when their cold,
they stay inside their house.
But when it's very hot outside,
they open up
so the bees and butterflies
can stop by for a drink.
All flowers have different flavors.
The purple flowers taste like blueberry.
The yellow flowers taste like kiwi.
The green flowers tasts like bananas.
The blue flowers tasts of coconuts.
The white flowers taste like snow.

I want to swim under the sea with the clowns… just like in Nemo. What do you think this clown is doing?
Is he in the circus? Is he on vacation? I'd love to see your story.

My Baby Monsters are not with me now,
they decided to stay at my grandparents' house
for a few extra days.
They like it there a lot.
They get to have ice cream and candy all the time.
And play in their special play house.
And stay up as late as they want.
I was with them over the weekend,
but then I had to come home
cause I had school on Monday.
But not My Baby Monsters.
They get to do whatever they want,
and they didn't want to go to school.
Not fair.
I didn't want to go to school either,
but I had too.
I have to do what I'm told.
Did you know that all aunts are baby monsters?
It's true, cause in Danish,
moster means aunt.
Do you have any baby monsters in your family?
Have fun,
– Josie

They were shooting cannonballs at our house.
Big BIG BOMBS!
I don't know who did it,
I was hiding under my bed.
I was so scared.
And then a cannonball hit our garden
and it eX-ploded,
shooting up dirt 100 feet in the air
and tossing our cucumbers,
tomatoes, and lettuce around
like a salad in a hurricane.
But my nightmare got worse.
It's hard to say what happened next
cause it makes me sad just to think about it…
a cannonball destroyed my Nintendo DS.
Have fun,
– Josie

I love animals… I could talk about them all day, well, okay, not all day, but for a long, long, long, long time. And candy too.
