Do you like bug sandwiches? [a kid's definition of Butterfly]

One time,
I collected butterflies
and I had over 200!

But then,
my mommy came
and took all my butterflies!

And then,
I only had one
so I had to collect more butterflies!

My mom took them
because she doesn't like butterflies,
and needed them on her bread.

Have fun,
– Josie

Butterfly: something that flies, but is not made of butter… an insect that starts it's life as a caterpillar, but then grows up.

Let's make some music [a kid's definition of Banjo]

One time
my daddy played
play play played
the banjo

One time
my daddy played
the banjo
on the stage

He played
my baby monsters
monsters' song
song song song

He played
my monsters' song
so sing along
like this

Neaw neaw
neaw neaw neaw
neaw neaw neaw
neaw neaw neaaaaw

Neaw neaw
neaw neaw neaw
neaw neaw neaw
neaw neaaaaw

One time
my baby monsters
went out
to get some food

One time
my baby monsters
went out to get
food

Banjo: It's a musical instrument with strings, kind of like a guitar but it has a circular body and makes a different sound… like rubber band lips.

Have fun,
– Josie

What to do when a bear wants your lunch [a kid's definition of backpack]

One time,
I was walking to school…
and there was something that fell out of my backpack…
and I didn't even notice…
and it was my lunch box.

And then,
when it was lunchtime at my school,
I didn't have no lunch,
so I had to go outside and look for it.

And then,
a bear came,
and it took my lunch box.

And then,
I ran after the bear,
but it ran faster then me.

And then,
my daddy stopped this story
because you should never chase bears.

And then?

Have fun,
– Josie

Backpack: what you have on your back to carry stuff to school… make sure it's closed so nothing falls out.

My Baby Monsters went to the zoo and saw bears [storytelling game]

Add on to this "And Then" story to see what happens next.

Well, the baby monsters went to the zoo,
and that includes Baby Monster Mom,
and they saw lots of bears playing.

AND THEN

They played,
and they fell.

AND THEN

They fell.
And they fell.
And they fell.

AND THEN

They got hurt,
so the Zoo Keepers went outside to the bears.

AND THEN

The Zoo Keepers took care of the bears…

AND THEN

Have fun
– Josie (and the dad)

What should I put on a Dagwood sandwich?

One slice of BREAD
Lettuce
Meats… like cow
Fish
a telephone
a TV
a microphone
a map
and then another slice of bread.

When I make a sandwich like that, my grandfather always says,
"That sure looks like a Dagwood."

Dagwood is famous for his crazy, everything sandwiches… he is married to a cartoon character named Blondie.
