Bedtime Stories (Storytelling Library: September, 2007)
I is for Indian Rhino, as in
You're the One-horned Rhino,
so I need to say, you're special.
Supper swimmer and great runner too,
just too bad your eyesight's poor.
Ay, yi, yi, yi.
Indian Rhino.
You're such a good kisser,
just watch out with that horn.
Your lips are sweet,
but I cannot eat them, you're endangered.
There are only 25 hundred of you,
but it could be worse, and it used to be too.
Ay, yi, yi, yi.
Indian Rhino.
You're such a good kisser,
just watch out with that horn.
You're the largest land animal
after elephants, 3 tons of love.
Your skin is thick and it's silver and brown,
like a bald suit of armor, you have little hair.
Ay, yi, yi, yi.
Indian Rhino.
You're such a good kisser,
just watch out with that horn.
You're all grown up,
13 feet long, with one big horn,
but baby rhinos haven't grown theirs yet, they'll have to wait for their 6th birthday to get.
Ay, yi, yi, yi.
Indian Rhino.
You're such a good kisser,
just watch out with that horn.
Your horn is sharp,
but like a fingernail, it's not a weapon,
you have few enemies, except for tigers
who love your calves… oh yeah, and there are people too…
who want your home and horn.
Ay, yi, yi, yi.
Indian Rhino.
You're such a good kisser,
just watch out with that horn.

Where are Hippos born?
Hippopotamus (as known as Hippo) often gives birth in the water. Since a 100 pound baby is not a fish, the baby hippo surfaces right after birth to take its first breath.
Oh, how quickly do Hippos grow up?
Hippo calves (babies) nurse both under water and on land for a year. Then they are weaned off their mothers' milk but remain with their mothers until they turn eight. Then they move out.
What do Hippos love?
Hippos love water and they spend most of the day in it to stay cool. The hippo can even breathe, see, and hear while its body is under water because it's nose, ears, and eyes are on the top of its head.
Do Hippos swim better than people?
Yes, they are excellent swimmers and can hold their breath for five minutes. Hippos can even walk under water along the bottoms of rivers and lakes.

One NOT SO FUN FACT about Hippos
Unsure if Hippos will celebrate many more Happy Birthdays because they are Vulnerable and face a high risk of extinction in the wild.
This special birthday podcast is SO BIG and FUN that my dad and I had to cut it in half.
But like ice cream cake, it's DELICIOUS when you share it with friends… so enjoy this yummy episode. It's filled with great children's songs and facts about the Hippopotamus, Indian Rhinoceros, Jellyfish, and Kids.
But watch out for my baby sister, Little Bird… she keeps saying it's her birthday.

The true story of a little girl's imaginary world.
The Dreaded Bubblegum Disease
is very contagious,
that means
it's easy for you to catch,
so be careful
'cause you don't want it.
If you catch
the Dreaded Bubblegum Disease
you get little pink bubblegum bumps
all over you body…
but don't eat them
like I did,
'cause that makes it worse.
You can die if you don't get rid of
the Dreaded Bubblegum Disease,
because the bubble inside your body
will grow Bigger and BIGGER
until it
and you
POP!
IF YOU DON'T BURP A LOT
YOU WILL EXPLODE!
So burp, burp, burp
until the Dreaded Bubblegum Disease
flies out of your tummy
and into someone else's mouth
or onto the floor
so someone else can step on it,
'cause if it doesn't find a new home
the Dreaded Bubblegum Disease
will come back for seconds.
Have fun,
– Josie
The true story of a little girl's imaginary world.
You can't break bones in Magic World
because your body is made of ice cream…
but you can break your popsicle sticks.
You have 11 popsicle sticks,
so if you break 10,
no problem…
but if you break 11,
you die.
Then you become a fish
and swim under the sea.
If you break your popsicle sticks,
you need to avoid sour hospitals,
'cause they can't help.
What you really need
is a sweet doctor
or even sweeter nurse,
'cause only they can fix your popsicle sticks.
Their secret is
cream,
they come over to the Real World
and buy yummy ice cream
to share with you
and repair
your ice cream body.
Have fun,
– Josie
I'm writing a new children's book about wild animals and wanted to share the art coloring pages I'm using to make it. The book is called Wild Alphabet Stories… fun tails for children and other wild animals.

Did you know the Indian Rhinoceros is endangered? There are only 2,500 left… but it could be worse, and it used to be to. A hundred years ago, there were only 1,000. So what happens next? You decide, because it's your story.
